Well, I am about to buy a speaker system and was wondering whether I should buy 5.1 or 7.1?
As far as I know, current Blu-ray titles that have DTS-HD MA are 5.1. I am aware new movies may be released in future with DTS-HD MA that is compatible with 7.1 channels.
Until then and apart from this usage, what are the circumstances that I can benefit from 7.1 channels 1) currently and 2) possibly in future?
BTW, I guess currently 7.1 is used, but not it is truly used. As far as I see on amazon.com, there are some Blu-ray titles like this one http://www.amazon.com/Grieg-Concerto-Symphonic-Acoustic-Experience/dp/B0016DER2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1217052997&sr=8-1, which are not true 7.1, because it says the following for this title: "PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RECORD WAS ORIGINALLY PRODUCED FOR 5.1 AND PRESENTED FOR 7.1 SURROUND SOUND REPRODUCTION TO PROVIDE YOU WITH UNIQUE ACOUSTIC REALITY EXPERIENCE" (I guess this is called what you guys called matrixing)
