Do I need a LAN to hookup Xbox live to my laptop? If not can someone tell me how to make this connection?

You need to get a crossover ethernet cable (different from a regular ethernet cable - they have them at Best Buy) and run that from your xbox to your laptop. Then go to control panel > network connections and right click on your internet connection and select properties. Go to the advanced tab and check the "share my internet connection" box. Hit close to save it. Leave all the settings on automatic on the xbox and turn it on and plug it in. As long as you can get internet on your laptop, the xbox will detect it and use it for the conenction. Good luck!

if ur laptop is connected wirelessly using ur router then u can connect it to ur router wireless/wired. if u dont have a wireless network or ur an ISP service then u wont be able to connect ur xbox.
