Do I need a Masters of Education to be a college professor or can I continue a grad degree in Psych and teach?

  1. College professors do not have degrees in eduction unless they are teaching education courses.  

    A professor would have a Ph.D. in the field of study that professor teaches.  

    For example, a professor of Anthropology would have a Ph.D. in Anthropology.  He would also probably have a M.S. and a B.S. in Anthropology, but he may have his Bachelor's in some other field.  

    You can be an instructor with a Master's degree or even a Bachelor's if you have some specialized training or experience.  For example, a CPA with only an Bachelor's degree could be an instructor in the accounting program.  

    A high school principal might have a Ph.D. in education.

    You can continue to take your graduate degrees in psychology and teach.  In fact, while you are doing your graduate level work, you may be able to teach undergraduate level coursework in psychology or statistics, get modest pay, and reduced tuition and fees.
