Do I need a Passport to travel to Dominica Republic?

I would like to travel to the Dominica Republic with my Fiance for be with him on some business matter. I would like to know is it possible to go without a passport? Thank you

Yes but not only  upon entering the DR but when you return home you will also need it.

Are you leaving from the US?  If so you will need a passport to reenter the US again once you return from your trip.  Not sure what its like for other countries.

I would go ahead and get one as they are good for 10 years and sooner or later we are going to need them anyway.  Right now is a slow period and you can get it expedited and have it in about 10 days.  It will cost a little more but that's the cost of doing business.  I know that there is "grace" from certain areas in the Caribbean for now, but that will all change.  To be certain you could call the county courthouse and they should be up on everything to tell you.

I think you got the countries mixed up. It's Dominican Republic.  Dominica is another country.

If you are from the US, you will need a passport to fly there. The airline will not issue you a ticket without proof of a valid passport. I know because that happened when some friends and I went to DR. Luckily we were able to find the passport and they let us fly out the next day.

You do not need a passport to get into the Dominican Republic, but your DO need one to return to the U.S.

Yes, you need a passport to go and come back.  Every time you travel your passport gets stamp with the date you go in and out of the country. Check the web site that people have left on page.  You might use the info. on the web site.

If you go by air, you will need a passport.  

If you go by sea before January 31, you'll need government-issued ID.  If you go by sea after January 31, you'll need government-issued ID PLUS proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate.
