Do I need a SIM card if I change my current Sprint phone over to a Razr phone as a replacement?

The current phone I have does not have a SIM card in it, and I heard that the RAZR phone uses a SIM card possibly. Does anyone know if the RAZR v3m does indeed use a SIM card? If so, does it necessarily need it to function. Any info would be nice, thanks.

sim cards are only used by certain cell phone providers, AT&T, T-Mobile and other gsm companies. you're probably getting it confused with a micro sd card slot, about the same size but the micro sd is used to store pics, videos and music on the phone. sim cards store contacts and your cell # (ok, really simplified answer but still technically true)
