I am from Taiwan but studying in England at the moment. That means I have a UK Student Visa. I would like to make sure if I need a Visa to go to the Republic of Ireland? Thanks!

  1. I believe they take Mastercard

  2. Yes you do, the Republic of Ireland is a sovereign country, your visa is not for the EU solely for the UK.

  3. Don`t know the answer, but you could call Migration Expert UK, Regent Street, London  0207 494 6464. They may be able to help. UK citizens can travel without a visa but i`m not sure that you can.

  4. Yes you do need a Visa to go to the Republic of Ireland. I had to check when my Egyptian husband wanted to visit his friend in Dublin.

  5. Just bring a bottle of Scotch ;-)

  6. Your best bet is to ask the Irish embassy. The UK Foreign Office has contact details.

  7. I checked a couple of web sites and you may not need a visa to travel to the Republic of Ireland. The Learn4Good web site (see the link below) states:

"A passport is not required for travel between Great Britain and Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

Passengers transiting the UK destined for the Republic of Ireland are advised to hold return tickets to avoid delay and interrogation."

The text says "passport," but the context of the web page implies that they intend to say "visa." The web site is targeted to foreign students studying in the UK.

Another web site that I found is: ukvisas.gov.uk. The link below should take you to "Guidance Students (INF 5)." This web page does not explicitly state whether you need a visa to travel to the Republic of Ireland, but it does provide several contacts, at least one of which is likely to have the definitive answer for you.

I'm sorry that I don't have a specific and definite answer for you, but in cases like this it's usually best to go to the official (i.e., government) source. This ensures that if you have a special situation, you are talking to the people who should help you through the process.

I hope you can travel to the Republic of Ireland and have a great time!

  8. it will have a list of things u can and can't do on it...

you can probably visit other parts of europe for short stays , but obviously not to work

  9. Yes, you need a visa.

Yes, your passport will be checked.

The info that "passports are not required for travel to Ireland" only applies to citizens. They can use a drivers license instead.

    Taiwan citizens need a visa.
