Do I need a business license

for being a nanny referral program? ( I set families up with nannies for house sitting pet sitting elderly companionship and child care) I don't do anything except talk to people over the phone? Does this require a business license? and do I have to find out about zoning?

  1. it really depends in what city you live in. call your city department or better yet call your local chamber of commerce.or better business . i would ask about liability insurance. people  are sue crazy..  


  2. Of course you need a license, and LOTS of liability insurance.    You would be held liable if you refered anyone who was not actually qualified or harmed anyone.

  3. Yes, if you do it for hire.  

    You should also get liability insurance for this.  You may be able to add it to your homeowners policy.  You need this in case there is a problem, and you get sued.

  4. Do you charge a fee or get paid somehow? If so, it is a business and you will need a license.
