Question:

Do I need a business permit?

Hello! As fun, I want to make and sell cute stickers, t-shirts, and jewelry [each one different from all the others]. This isn't specifically for profit; I want to improve my crafts skill and distribute all the things I love to make to the kids at school. The reason I would charge for these items is because it costs money to make all these items and I don't want to lose money (I'd charge as little as I could without losing money).

However, recently my mom told me this was illegal and that I need a business permit to do so. Is this true? If so, how can I get one (I'm only 13)?

Also, my mom also told me I'd need to copyright all my stuff, do I need to do this as well?

In my opinion, this seems completely unnecessary =|

  1. If its just to school mates or yard sales no a permit is not needed however if you get big and want to buy items wholesale and sell to stores or at trade shows you will need a vendors permit.  If you have special designs those you should be copyrighted.  It depends where you live each country is different.
