Do I need a cable TV decoder

or just put a cable into tuner if I buy analog&digital one?

  1. Most cable boxes are decoders themselves, but there are also TVs with built in decoders to NTSC/ATSC. If your television is either of the two, then you should be fine to plug and watch, but anything else will need a separate console. Good Luck

  2. If you are asking because of the new digital broadcasting signals then most cable companies are decoding it thru the cable. Plug & Play.


  3. If you have analog cable and an analog TV, you won't need a decoder for digital TV.  Those signals that are broadcast over the air won't affect you.

    If you have premium channels with your cable service, they may require a cable box.

    If you have digital cable service and an analog TV, you will need a converter box.  You can probably rent this from your cable company.
