Do I need a home phone?

I have att high speed internet at home, but I want to cut down on costs and get a prepaid phone instead. Is it a requirement to have a home phone for the internet?

You do NOT need a home phone (unless you love policemen calling to sell you tickets to their ball).  If you have high speed internet, you're good to go.  Only need the phone if you have dial up, cable if you have DSL and if you have high speed internet, you can get a prepaid cell phone.  I have Net10 and it has worked out great.  Cheapest ones around.  I got a camera phone for $50!  www.net10.com!

It is always nice to have a reliable POTS (plain ol' telephone service) when your cell doesn't work.  I personally will never get rid of mine, mainly for security reasons and it never goes out in a storm.  I would call your phone company and remove all unnecessary features and tell them you just want dial tone only.  But you do not have to have dial tone to get a DSL
