  1. Yes you do, i have to have one for my work and it is compulsory to have one to drive it.


  2. yes, you need to have a current valid drivers license first then apply for a light machinery license. Go to your local department of planning and infrastructur for further advice

  3. yes you can generally get them from an Authorised rep.. and you and find one in the local paper... should cost you about 80 to 100 dollars and you will have to sit a test ... and get 100 percent.. it is an OH&S test and you will learn it all in a day of training, the test is pretty easy and mostly common sense with a few technical questions like gross carrying mass and which way to drive up a ramp, and where to find the carrying limit on a fork and also what to do if the fork starts to topple over(ie stay in it or lose your head.. lol)   they usually run them on a Saturday and the pass rate is very high as the instructors are very helpful..... hope that was helpful..

  6. yes you do, but you do not have to have a regular drivers license (for driving a car etc)  unless you intend to drive the forklift on the road.

    My husband does not have a drivers license but does have a forklift drivers license.  They are 2 separate licenses.
