a) Do I need a license of sorts to sell goods on consignment? I'm making earrings from home that I plan to sell at homemade-goods/vintage stores.

b) Can I use stamps I have on my packaging or is that interfering with the stamp makers copy right? I'm selling the earrings not the stamp pattern after all.

c) I have buttons that have name brands on them. Can I turn them into earrings and sell them or does that violate something? You could compare it to just reselling the clothes they came from which is legal...

  1. 1. you need a business license from the city you live in & a resale license from the franchise tax board if you live in a state that collects sales taxes. You will also need a business account at the bank to place monies earned as well as an account to place taxes collected.  Do not mingle business money in your personal account as the IRS will cause great grief for that.  place into a business account & then "payroll" yourself.  If there is a small business association in your area they can usually help. keep METICULOUS records for any IRS audit.

b & c I believe are acceptable. some manufacturers get weird about that stuff, but I am sure you are small enough to not be a threat.
