Do I need a license to ride a scooter in Los Angeles?

Do I need a motorcycle license to ride a scooter in Los Angeles? or Is driver's license just enough?

Does it depends on how big the engine is?

If you want to ride pretty much anything on the street here you need an M1 or M2 endorsement. Even motorized bicycles need an M1. The only thing that you can get an M2 for is one of those scooters that you stand on.
