I am upgrading my Fuji film S1000FD to a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT with 75-300mm Lens (I don't have much background in photography.) I want to do all kinds of photography. Portrait, Landscapes, macro ect ect. I was wondering If it is really necessary to buy a Lighting Studio? I want to know the advantages of it. I'm taking photography seriously now. I want to do more. Mhm

  1. It really depends on if you enjoy studio portraits or if you would rather use natural light. I would spend a little time getting to know your new camera before spending a lot of money on studio lighting. I have the 75-300mm. I like that lens it is great for outdoors. I have not had much luck with it indoors. If you can afford it get the 50mm 1.8 it is a great portrait lens and it produces really nice bokeh

  2. Focus on learning how to use your camera in natural daylight first... then decide if it's really necessary to buy a lighting kit. I know many photographers that only shoot on location, usually with a reflector or external flash.
