Do I need a motorcycle license for a 125cc Scooter?

In the state of kansas that is...

I understand all of the safety issues,we just bought it from a GI and forgot to ask about the license issue... my husband has a 2000cc Kawasaki Vulcan so he has a motorcycle license, but it is for me to putt around on in town.

  1. in ohio i believe anything above a 50cc engine u need a motorcycle liscense to drive

  5. in california they have two different classes of motorcycle licenses. m1 and m2. you would need an m2 for that in CA

  6. yes and if you can get in a motorcycle rider foundation class that will get you one and probably save you a hospital visit

In most cities you will be required to have a motorcycle license for a 125cc scooter.  There are some cities, however, where its not required, one such city is nashville... most of the rest of the state requires a motorcycle license.  Most other cities do not require a motorcycle license for scooters under 50cc.  To know for sure, you will need to call your local DMV.  If you are required to get it licensed then keep in mind you will also be required to register it and have it insured.
