Do I need a new raquet?

I am 17 and I just started playing tennis for the first time last year on my high school team. I was on the #1 JV doubles team, and we went 11-1 on the season. I am 6'4" and I have a fast swing. I have a hard first serve, and my second serve is softer with much more spin. My biggest enemy when it comes to ground strokes is the net. I don't usually hit it out, but the net seems to get higher when I hit the ball. I love to play the net, and when I am playing singles, I often end up there by the end of the point. The raquet I am currently using is the Dunlop 1000G ICE. I purchased this raquet over the internet before I really knew anything about the game because I got it for $60. I like the raquet, but I was wondering if there is another raquet better suited to my style of play. I don't want to spend over $100 though because I have to pay for it myself, and I have limited funds.

Thanks for your time.

  1. How about changing your stroke?

I've found it's 99% not the racquet, it's the stroke.  Introduce a touch more topspin in your swing and you'll get wayyy more clearance and a lot more shots over.  A heavy angled topspin will also give you more net advantage which sounds like where you want to be.  :)  Good luck!

  2. Why not go to adecent sports shop, they can advise you on the best racquet for you, they also have test racquets so you can play a few sets to see how you gey on with the racquet.

However if you do this don't be an a***hole and buy it from the internet, otherwise if we all do this the shop will be closed the next time you want a racquet
