Do I need a passaport to travel to Mexico by land?

I'm so confused some peple say yes , some say no, i know they say you'll need it by Jan. 2008, but now a friend told me that they extended the period to travel without a passaport does any body knows for sure?

  1. Your best bet would be to call the place where you get passports b/c I really have NO idea.


  2. no, you do not need a passport to travel to mexico, you do need a photo id such as driver's licence and proof of citizenship such as birth certificate to enter the united states. mexico wont bother you with paper work, maybe a waiver that is it

  3. No you do not. See site below to read that you need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.
