If you are a US citizen, you dont need a passport. You only need a photo id like a driver's license!

yes you can cruise in and out of bahamas without a passport.  need to have your drivers license and a birth certificate raised seal.   if you should get sick though and have to fly home from bahamas, you would not get a quick flight out.  they would make you go to embassy in the port and get a emergency us passport before you can fly out of the bahamas or other port.     if you have time, just get a passport / they are cheap and valid for several years.

I Think you do not as long as you have certain id.. But keep in mind.. if u happen to get left behind in the bahamas and you want to get back home.. your gonna have trouble without a passport.

I went on a cruise to the bahamas without my passport and they asked for my birth certificate and drivers license. I brought it just incase, and Im glad I did.

I went to the Bahama's on a cruise 2 years ago and I had to have a passport.  It could have been because we also went to St. Thomas afterward.  

Last time I heard as of Jan. 1 all cruise passengers would need passports in the Caribbean.

Passports are not needed for curises ( SEA travel) to Caribbean nations until sometime after SUMMER 2008.  See website below and read top half of the page for current info.  However, some cruise lines want their passengers to have passports, so, it is wise to CALL your cruise line and ask them for sure.

If you want to come back to america you have to have a passport now even if your just going to the Bahamas or the Caribbean.
