Do I need a passport for....?

IIm going from connecticut,U.S to Canada which is 6 hours awway...Do I need a passsport ? or can I just bring my birth certficate? Im going in July.

  2. Currently all you need is a government-issued form of identification, such as a driver's license, and proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.

    Of course, a passport also works.

    However and starting June 1, 2009, you will need a passport, or a passport card, or another WHTI (Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative) compliant document.

  3. Citizens of the United States do not need a passport or visa to enter Canada, unless they are arriving in Canada from somewhere other than the USA. They do need to have on them proof of citizenship plus photo identification, although this is not often asked for.
