I never had to before, but I've heard rumors that starting in 2008, it'll be necessary to have a passport. Is this true? Where can I find this information?

  1. i think it only applies to flights not driving. however to be sure read this..http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp...

  2. I would have one regardless of whether you need it or not to ensure my return into the US.

I wouldn't take the risk of getting stuck in mexico.

i take mine to canada with me also.....

  3. I'm sure you've heard by now that they are going to change the law as of Jan. 08 and you'll supposedly need a passport no matter where you go, but currently you can go into any border town (Tijuana, Nogales) without one. If you go much further then you do need one. I go to Mexico City every year and whether you fly or drive, you need one.

  4. Right now, no. All you will need is a picture ID.

  5. It was on the news tonight, after the first of the year you need a passport.

  6. Until the end of January, all you need to drive into Mexico is a government-issued ID, like your driver's license.

Beginning the end of January, you'll need the ID plus proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate.

The passport will not be required until sometime this summer.
