Depending on what airline you're travelling with you won't need a passport. Most will just require photographic identification such as a driving licence, student id card, age card, work card.... but some airlines like Ryanair will only allow you fly on a passport, check the individual airline prior to travelling

Yes you need your passport.  You don't need to get it stamped for Ireland and England are both part of the EU but you will have to show it going into Ireland.

Chances are you won't need to show your passport for most of the time they don't look however, in case they do...

Ive been many times. You do need it. Its true they say photo id but take you passport because its the universal photo id.

No, Irish Government do not require UK citizens to carry passport, but you should carry ID. Airline may require photo ID - passport or drivers licence
