I was in the military for a while and never needed a passport when I got sent to different countries so I'm not too sure of the rules. If I want to go to Austrailia from the US will I need to get one?

  1. See your travel agent. it depends on what you intend doing there. You might be asked for.

  2. If you're traveling abroad, you will need a passport. If its to a different state you won't need one; like you can travel anywhere within the United Kingdom without getting one, or you can travel across Europe pretty easily without getting one. However, to get there in the first place you will need a passport.

So yes: you will need a passport to get to Australia from the US.

  3. First the good news. A Visa is NOT required for travel to New Zealand as long as you are staying under 90 days (please, please visit the South Island). However, for Australia, you will need an ETA, which is an "electronic visa". ETA's can be obtained at Zierer Visa Service. Their web-site is www.cir.zvs.com/. They do charge a fee. We have used them several times and found them to be very reliable. Otherwise, you would have to contact the closest Australian consulate/embassy for their requirements.
