My parents were born in Mexico, but I was born in the U.S. The last time I went to Mexico with out a passport was November of last year. Were planning on going for March. Will I need a passport to go to and back from Mexico? ( I'm 17 I don't know if that matters or not.)

  2. yes indeed

  3. Yes. I think if you don't have one they can put you in jail-- Mexican Jail.  :(     (That's what I heard)

***oh heck I was just joking!*** (hahaha)

I guess I was watching too much DOG the Bounty Hunter.

If you don't have one - if any customs officer checks for one -

they would have a valid reason to give you and your family a hard time.(hassle) It depends who is doing their job and catches you without a passport in Mexico. (or returning to the US) Try to get one to make everybody's lives easier in this case. :)

  4. If you must board a plane to get there then yes you will, but if you will be driving across the border or traveling by by ship then you don't need one. You can read more about it at the site source below.

  5. yes.

  6. Yes, you need a passport! I really hope you already have a passport or that you have already applied for a passport! Those things take around 10-12 weeks to be processed and for you to get it! And they cost about $120! You could apply for one and get it expedited so you can get it sooner, but it will still take a couple weeks or so for that! The expedited ones cost even more than the others! Hope I helped...

  7. Yes you need a passport to go to anywhere out of the US pass the border ;)

  8. you need one only if your flying from LAX to mexico... if your passing the border and going to mexico from Tijuana.. i dont think u do. i didnt when i went. if your coming back from mexico to LAX you mos def. need a passport, but if you come back to tijuana and pass thru the border, all u need is an I.D. and your birth certificate, u dont need your passport..... what part of Mexico u going?...  im from Jalisco..

  9. Hello I am an acceptance agent in Minnesota for the passport agency. I wish people would do their research before they give you false answers.  You will NOT need one if you are driving into Mexico..Just your birth certificate and a valid photo Id. Here is current information on Mexico and when you will need a passport.

    AIR TRAVEL

Implemented on January 23, 2007, ALL PERSONS traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean region are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.

    LAND AND SEA TRAVEL

The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

    * JANUARY 31, 2008

U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.

  10. Yes you need one yo pass the border.

  11. Yes since thsi year the changed the rule and now everyone going out from the U.S needs a passport to travel...

  12. First of all yes you do, and if you don't have one there might be a chance they wont let you back in the US. You wont be sent to Mexican jail that ridicules. The laws in the USA have changed and now they ask for you to take your passport to be able to get back in, having your birth certificate isn't enough anymore.

  13. No, No, No!  Passports are not yet needed to travel to and from Mexico by LAND.  Date for this has not yet been set but will be after next summer.  By the way, do you have dual citizenship/  If not, youcertainly could have it...can be done easily at the nearest Mexican consulate, and wuld be a great thing for you to have in case you want to live in or retire to mexico in the future.
