Do I need a passport to go to cancun, mexico from tx?

I walked across the border a couple of weeks ago but, I want to fly to cancun for a week or so.... If I don't need a passport what would i need? plz only persons who have gone in the last couple of weeks or months and know what they are talking about or a link to a website....thanks

  2. If you chose to drive to Cancun from TX, you wouldn't yet need a passport.  However, flying, it is definitely required.  It's not Mexico that wants to see it, it's returning to the United States.

    The rule of passports became effective last year, i went on my honeymoon in Cancun last August and needed a passport.

    Walking across, as you found, you don't, just proof of citizenship and government ID.
