  1. If you're crossing the border, you need your passport, or if you're canadian, you need your citizenship card

  2. "Silver" got it right.  The requirement for either Canadians or U.S. citizens to have passports to croiss the border has been set for JUNE 2009.  Righr now, you need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship.

  3. well just look up online for a canada border thing. im not so sure but you should call

  4. idk

  5. I went 2 years ago from Ohio to Windsor and I only needed my birth  certificate and ID. I would imagine it would be the same for you.

  6. An American or Canadian citizen does not yet need a passport to cross the border in either direction.  A government issued photo ID such as a driver's license and your birth certificate will be sufficient.

  7. Yes, you do. You will also need it to cross the border back into the US. Check with Immigration.

  8. Depending on your citizenship, but if you are either American or Canadian all you need is a birth certificate and another piece of photo id.

    See "Arriving in Canada"

  9. If you're an American citizen, you don't need a passport when crossing the border into Canada by LAND or SEA until June 2009. You need a driver's license and birth certificate.

PS: you'll need a valid passport if you travel by AIR

  10. Yes you do unless you happen to come across a nice police officer at the border patrol.

    Good luck!

  11. If arriving in Canada by LAND or SEA and you are an American citizen, then NO you do not need a passport yet. Not until June 2009.

If coming by plane, then YES, you have needed one since SEP-2007.

It is recommended that you get a passport as soon as possible because waiting until the last minute, if they don't make another extension of the deadline, you will not be allowed to cross.

One other thing to think about. You mentioned that you will be driving from the airport in Buffalo. That suggests to me you will be renting a car, correct?

Make sure that the car rental agency has given you permission to bring the car into Canada. Some car rental places make a point of listing it on the contract that it is forbidden to leave the continental USA with their car. When you go into Canada, one of two things could happen:

    1) The border guards notice the rental car and turn you back if you do not have a form or contract that allows the car to cross the border.

    2) You cross the border, get into an accident or the car is vandalized/broken into, and the car rental insurance that you bought refuses to cover the damages because you were not supposed to be in Canada in the first place.

Just be sure before you go.

  12. You can no longer make a verbal declaration of your citizenship. You must present proof of your identify and citizenship.

Here's are two link with details:

  13. darling where ever you go you should know you always need your passport

that is going to a other country

  14. What's newLand and sea travel to the United States

Starting June 1, 2009, Canadian citizens will be required to present a valid passport, a NEXUS card, or other acceptable document when seeking to enter the United States. Canadian citizens 15 years of age and under will only require proof of citizenship. Canadian citizens 18 years of age and under, who are travelling in approved adult-supervised groups, may also present proof of citizenship alone.

I guess it would be the same for the oppotiste

  15. Yes you do if you are not a Canadian citizen. If you are a Canadian citizen, you will simply need your immigration card or Canadian Birth Certificate + another piece of ID like a drivers licence.
