Do I need a passport to travel out of the US?

I am a Resident in the US, I was born outside the US and I am a Canadian Citizen but not a US Citizen...do I need a passport to travel outside the US?

  2. It depends where you want to go. You could go to Canada without a passport. You could return to the U.S. with just your green card and no passport.

    Other than that, you might need a passport for certain countries. I can't imagine that you could go to China or Brazil without a passport.

    To return to the U.S., you do not need a passport. Those who blindly said "yes" had a 50/50 chance of being right. If they had studied what the WHTI requirements are for U.S. permanent residents, they would have guessed "no."

  6. If you will travel by plane, yes, you need your Canadian passport. If you will go to Canada by land, then your citizenship card will do. Going back, your LPR card will be required at the US border.**
