Do I need to have a piston ring expander to install piston rings on a 7HP Briggs and Stratton engine?

  1. no you dont have to use one really just oil the piston slide it down til ring hits and push ring with finger nail will work ... just easier.. one of the easiest motors to work on.. if your talking about putting the rings on no just slide it over piston work it slow no need for any  special tools


  2. You can do those with your fingers.  Oil ring first, then the second compression ring then the top.  Hold them over the piston top, expand them just enough to go over the piston and down to their proper slot.  

  3. NO,  You can use a hammer.  You know that not true.  You maybe should gt/Rent one just in case it's not loose enough.  Try using your fingers to push it on
