Do I need a re-entry permit when I go to Vietnam in Jan 2007 ?

  1. If you expect to be out of the US for longer than one year, you absolutely do need a re-entry permit.  You will lose your residency otherwise.

    Re-Entry Permit

    Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) use re-entry permits to re-enter the U.S. after travel of one year or more. For LPR’s returning to the U.S., re-entry permits are generally valid for two years from the date of issuance of the re-entry permit. The LPR should apply for this benefit before leaving the U.S.

    If you leave the US more than 1 year, u'll need the permit. Otherwise, I dont believe so. Check w/ your travel agent too, just to make sure. :)

  3. You will definitely need a re-entry permit if you're a green card holder. With out it, you will not be allowed to re-enter the U.S. You should ask your travel agent (or whom you purchased your airline ticket from) for further advice.
