  1. if you fax like 50 papers a day

  2. If you don't want the headache of switching lines all of the time.  I guess it just depends on how much you will be using the fax line.  If you will be sending and/or receiving a lot of faxes, I would highly recommend another line.  If not, you can probably get by with just your land line.

  3. Is your current phone line digital? Is your fax analog? If so, then yes.

If you have an analog line for your phone, then no.

  4. No.

You can send and receive faxes but you can't talk on the phone and fax at the same time.

Set the fax to answer after a certain number of rings. That way, if it's just a call, you can answer it, and if it's a fax, you can let the fax machine get the call.

  5. No. the "information" or data that is tranfered over the phone lines to produce a "facimile" image is sent on a much higher frequency then that that can be heard by the human ear, therefore, both the fax data and the voice data can be sent over the same line. IF you want to not be bothered with interupted calls wanting you to "turn on" the fax machine, then maybe separate lines are best for you.

  6. You can get a second phone number for very little cost, andyou dont need a second phone line. Its called a 'distinctive ring' or 'custom ring' number. You can set your fax machine to pick up on this distinctive ring, that way you can have a dedicated fax line.

  7. You don't need a second line, especially if you don't plan to do a lot of faxing.  You can just ask people to call you before they fax and then manually unplug your phone cord and put it in the fax when you are expecting a fax.

  8. no, but when ur receiving a fax u cant answer the phone

  9. How often do you plan on using your fax machine? I do not have a second line for mine... but only use it a few times a year. If I have a fax coming in I have to know I am going to receive the fax so the phone won't get answered. Not worth for me to have a second line, but if you fax and receive fax a lot, then it would be best to have a second line.

  10. nope not at all, Fax number would only come in handy if you are faxing all day.

  11. no you dont. just a free jack to plug your fax into
