I've just bought my daughter a little pool for our backyard. It's a softsided pool that erects as you fill it. It has a filter etc blah blah blah. Do I need a special water permit for it??

  1. no course you dont because its not permanent . just be prepared for a huge water bill!!! make sure you get the stuff to put in water ( chlorine ) to stop it going slimey after a couple of days.

  2. Depends on your locality.  My town does not require a fence or a permit for blow up or portable pools.  However, if I do a more permanent above ground pool over 1000 gallons, I must fence the area and need a permit for the deck I would put around the pool.  My 16 ft Intex pool doesn't need one though!  Check with your local township, city, county or state to see what the law says where you are at!  Hope this helps you!  Good luck!

  3. Most local jurisdictions do not require a permit, but they DO require a fence around the pool for safety.  Check with your local county or city permit office to see exactly what they require.

More importantly for the safety of your daughter and other children in the neighborhood, do what you can to keep the area as safe as possible (remove the ladder when not in use and remove toys from the pool when not in use so your daughter won't try to climb up and reach for something in the pool and risk falling in.

  4. Some towns might require it.  You need to ask.  You also need a fence most likely...most towns require that.

  5. No, I had a huge pool like that once aswell and I never needed any type of permit at all.
