Ok so I was taken to the wal-mart vision center (how quality they are) geez, anyways I had no choice, so that is where I was taken for an eye exam. I requested the exam due to the fact that when I put my glasses on they were not helping. I thought I would need a stronger Rx, when the doctor says that my eyes have gotten better?! WTF so I asked him about it, and said thats why it's blury. I told him, it's not blury it's just I put my glasses on and they dont help. I cant see anything far away anymore, he says oh no, no theyre just to strong. So I needed Rx sunglasses but they wouldnt give me a stronger prescription which I think I need, but I have no clue. Can your eyes get better? Do I need to get a 2nd opinion?

  1. Have you tried the new prescription?  If you haven't you should.  Your vision can fluctuate with certain systemic diseases like diabetes.  You can get a second opinion.  Wherever you go just let them know you just had an eye exam take your glasses prescription with you and your old glasses so they can look at both and go from there.

  2. Just getting stronger glasses is not always the case. Being over corrected can be just as bad as under corrected. Either way the glasses don't have the proper curvature to bring light to a focus on the retina. You cannot argue about the new Rx unless you try it. Get the new glasses and see how it is and if they don't help then you can complain.

  3. Just so you know, I do take offense to the WTF abreviation. In my opinion it shows low self esteem, bad social skills and lack of proper vocabulary. That said, it is possible that one or two things did happen to you. #1 your prior doctor might have over refracted you (given you a too strong RX), and #2 you might have improved in your vision. Both or either can happen. It is not unheard of. When they did your eye exam, did they let you look through the phoropter and see what the new RX was like? Really, they should have when they were going..."Which is better, one or two..." so you should have seen what they were prescribing in the end. Having a good refraction and a good Rx does not always mean getting a STRONGER one. It does mean getting one that is RIGHT. I would get your new glasses updated and see how you do. I know that if you still can not see and need a little fine tuning, the Doctor should not charge you for a little re-check and your lenses should be redone at no charge if it is all done in a timely manner.  I have been in this business for a long time and I have heard of this happening several times, so just trust your doctor and see what happens. Good luck to you! I ope it turns out ok, and know that I am not trying to be mean, I am just encouraging you to be a bit more classy in how you present yourself. I am a mom through and through! SMOOCHES!

  4. Best way to tell if your prescription is too strong: put on the glasses you have now that you think aren't strong enough, and pull them a few inches away from your face. If everything looks clearer, than the Walmart optometrist was probably right. The farther away from your face your glasses sit, the weaker the prescription becomes (so to speak). If it becomes worse when you do this, than you probably need a stronger prescription.
