Question:

Do I need a visa for a 2- or 3-month stay in Spain (I was just there for one month)?

I just spent the month of July in Spain. Now I'm thinking of going back there for 2-3 months to live with my (American) boyfriend, who will be living and working in Spain for about 9 months. I know that usually a stay of under 90 days doesn't require a visa, but since I was just in Spain for 30 days, does that change the visa requirements? Or can I only stay for 60 days or something? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere...

Thanks so much!

  1. If you had left Spain after your 30 days, then you go back there, that will be another trip and your 90 days should begin again.

That's the way it is when I visit the US.

  2. I am guessing that you are American---you didn't say?  If you are you can travel to Spain to visit for 90 days without a visa.  Spain is a member of the VWP with the US.  Each trip is independent of the other.

If you keep going back and forth for long stays you may be questioned as to your intentions.  Just be prepared to answer all questions honestly.
