Do I need a visa if I have a flight connection in Panama?

I have a roundtrip flight from LAX to Lima, Peru that makes a connection in Panama City. I know that visitors to Panama from the US need a visa or a tourist card, but if I'm just making a connection do I need one? And what about my bags? Do I need to collect and recheck them?

  1. You dont need a visa but you will need to go through customs again so you'll have to get and recheck your bags.  The airport personnel will direct you all around.  Its pretty simple.  I wouldnt be too worried.

  2. You don't need a visa to transit as long as you don't leave the airport.  Also you don't have to go through customs, as you wouldn't enter Panama.  I'm guessing you're flying COPA Airlines.  They can tell you what to do.  No worries!

  3. No, you don´t.
