Do I need a vrigin cable broadband modem or router?

Question

Hi am with Virgin cable broadband. I want to use my broadband Wirelessly in my house. I already have a virgin cable broadband modem . To do this do I need a wireless modem or router . I only need this for one computer .

Also any suggestions on makes and models

Cable connects to VM Modem.  Then you connect that to a wireless router.  You can use any make of router but I would recommend Linksys.

You have to buy your own router which you attach to the modem. Ive got a Linksys Wireless-G router and also have Virgin cable broadband. If you have a desktop you will also have to buy a wireless card which is hardware you plug into the usb port, if its for a laptop the laptop most likely has a built in wireless card called WIFI ...don't but Wireless -N because the whole street will pick up you network

You have the modem so you just need the router.

Simply connect the router to the modem. Change settings if nessessary and you should be ready to go.

You only need wireless router. If you are financial squeezing then go the cheapest and have a shopping like ebuyer.co.uk or pcworld, comet and any other retailers like argos.

Try to get a wireless router who has 4 port connection, to use in the future if you need more pc to connect wired.

I am using the virgin cable broadband and have connected with my internet from my wireless network. I am using a simple netgear router that supports upto 4 LAN and 4WAN connection. You can buy them from ebay for £15-£20.
