Question:

Do I need an HDMI cable?

I just purchased a Samsung HDTV with three HDMI outputs, and Comcast is coming on Tuesday with a new HD box. Since I want to use HDMI, I was wondering if I need to buy one separately or if they will come with one.

  1. They will bring component cables not HDMI. The component cables will provide all of the resolution you need.

If you still want to go with HDMI go here:

  2. Usually they come with one.  If it doesn't, and it has the composite (red yellow and white) or component (red green and blue) cables, or just the coaxial (s***w-in) cable, I would highly suggest upgrading and buying the HDMI cable, because if it doesn't come with one, and you just use the ones it came with, your picture quality won't be nearly as good.  Only an HDMI cable can carry a fully HD signal and make it look nice.  Therefore, if you use the cables it comes with (if they're not HDMI), your picture will never be the best that it could be, especially with all the expensive equipment you have.

If Comcast is open right now (probably not...), I would suggest calling them and asking if it will come with the HDMI.  If they're closed, just wait until they come, but don't buy the HDMI cable just yet.

  3. I did not get a free hdmi cable with my comcast.  I'm almost sure they will sell you one but if its anything else like there other cables go buy one.
