Do I need an I-134 form to apply for a B2 visa?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help as all the websites and help packs I have looked at seem to have differing views. I am a UK citizen applying for a B2 visitor visa, to visit my brother in the states. Do I need an I-134 affidavit of support from him for this application, or is the letter of invitation and proof of funds to support myself sufficient?

  1. An I-134 is not absolutely required, but you can't hurt yourself by providing one. Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and to accomplish the purpose of your trip without having to accept employment is more important than an I-134 might be.

You need to demonstrate that the arrangements which you have made for defraying the expenses of your visit and return abroad must be adequate in order to prevent the need to obtain unlawful employment in the United States.
