  1. you can drive on english lisence

  2. Billybean is absolutely correct. If your foreign licence is in English, you do not need an International Driving Permit and you are able to drive on your foreign licence in WA for up to 12 months.

If your foreign licence is not in English, it is recommended that you also carry an International Driving Permit OR an approved English translation of your licence.

Anyone who disagrees with any of this should follow the link where it is spelt out very clearly. Note that Singapore licences are in English (as stated in the question).

    http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/yourl...

  3. A temporary resident, basically as in tourist or working holidaymaker, can drive on their home country's licence, provided that it is in English, for up to 12 months.

All an international licence does is to have your details in lots of languages, Arabic for example.

Tourist visas are usually valid for 3 months, so you can drive on your UK licence in Australia for that length of time.

Don't listen to any of the answers above, they appear to be based on guesswork and some are totally wrong. Follow this link to the official WA Govt site:

  4. you dont need any licence if you can drive fast or run fast

  5. ANYONE from another Country needs an International Driver's License to drive in Australia.

I don't think a New Zealander does though.

EDIT: If you are from Singapore. That is a defiant YES.

A Japanese Exchange Student here for a while HAD to get an International Drivers License.

    So it is not guesswork!
