Do I need an OB/GYN beforehand?

My husband and I are thinking about trying to have a baby soon. I have been off birth control pills for awhile now and would like to try within a month to try to get pregnant. I do not have an OB/GYN. Should I get one before we try to get pregnant? Or only when I think I am pregnant? Thanks!

  1. It would be a good idea to have a complete check up prior, a pap etc.

  2. It would probably be a good idea to have an OB/GYN before you get pregnant.  I know a lot of doctors won't take new patients who are already pregnant.  You should get a pelvic exam and pap smear before you start trying anyway.
