Do I need an amp for my speakers in my car?

i am going to install a completely new sound system into my car. i am getting two 10" subwoofers, a 2 channel amp (for the subwoofers), a new deck, and speakers(2 front and 2 back). i want to know if i have to have an amp for my speakers. this is going to cost me a lot of money so i just wanted to know because i want to save a little bit of money.

welcome to the world of car audio.. hopefully you will become an addict like the rest of us.. regardless of what you get, you will soon feel like its not enough and want to know more, get more, have more, etc.. if your just looking for a little bump in the trunk, then no you dont need an amp for your door speakers. if ur like me then you,ll want to upgrade everything and spend all your time researching for the best speakers and amps and enclosures and prices.. have fun.

an amp is not necessary for after market door speakers.  how ever, if you want a good sound i would recommend it.  it dosent have to be a powerful amp at that.  now ur subs will need an amp.

Technically, you do not need to amp your speakers. In fact, if you are buying inexpensive replacement speakers for your car, they may not even be able to handle the added power that an amp would provide.

If you are new to the world that is car aduio, Dont Buy a Highs Amp.

Try getting a Bass Package, 1 x 12" sub, Bass Amp, Bass k**b, and a set of tweeters.  400-450, Out the door and you will be just fine.

After hearing the system 6 months, you will have a good idea of what you want to improve on later.

u dont need a amp for ur front and back door speakers....for ur subs   yes ....but if u want ur car to be loud with its mids and highs, i would get a amp of about 150 rms to put on the speakers too....that amp might be only like 100 to 200 dollars and thats for a really nice one....good luck
