Question:

Do I need another eye exam for disposable contacts lenses?

I got prescription glasses about two months ago. If I want to buy the disposable contact lenses (ones that cost around $20 for 3 pairs) do I need another exam? Couldn't I just call the optical center and ask them what they have on record from my eye exam two months ago?

Thanks.

  1. While your eyeglass Rx is still valid because it is less than two years old, you will have to have a "contact" eye exam in order to get contacts.  They need to measure your eye a couple of different ways in order to fit you with the right size lens for your eye shape.  Also, unlike regular eyeglass prescriptions that remain vaild for 2 years, contact prescriptions have to be done yearly.
