  1. noooo - go right ahead, the world always needs another cowboy, of course you dont need qualifications, just get in there, blow up someone's house or flood it, you dont need any experience either, just borrow a screwdriver and stick it in there. You worry me, because if you are not bright enough to realise you need to learn, and get qualifications, (which takes years) you are not bright enough to do the job - are you ?

  2. BOTH HAVE THERE HAZARD , ONE YOU COULD GET SHOCKED OR FRIED ; THE OTHER SOONER OR LATER  YOU'LL WIND UP IN c**p ON REPAIR WORK , I DID BOTH WHEN I CONTRACTED HOUSE REMODELING . UP TO YOU BUT ELECTRICIAN WORK IS USUALLY CLEANER

  3. Devry seems to have a lot of graduates that are really excited about the training they got, but their closest school to Birmingham Michigan is in Southfield.

There's a demand for electricians, and a demand for plumbers, but learning HVAC is probably going to put more dollars in your pocket. There's some plumbing and some electricity in HVAC.

Most of the colleges offering training like that will take anyone who has the money. You don't need to be a rocket scientist for any of those courses, but you DO need to be average intelligent, and more important, you have to apply yourself. There's a lot to learn, and they try to save you some money by moving along at a fairly fast clip.

  4. Hi Both I would say, My husband is doing the electrician course which takes 3 years He is now in his second year, If you are thinking as to what you could earn at the end when you get your ticket, Then I would say electrician but please be aware the first year of your course is health and safety

But good luck in what ever you choose to do

  5. Basic Electrical Principles + City & Guilds 2381

This course is designed and intended for people wanting to start a career as electricians, and assumes no previous knowledge or experience of electrics, or simply as a refresher for those wanting to start their career anew.

    6129 Plumbing Training Certificate

The Plumbing Technical Certificate is a qualification for the Plumbing Industry, providing you with the underpinning knowledge required for the NVQ2, which can be achieved once in the workplace.

This qualification is a mix of theory and hands-on ‘in house’ workshop plumbing training to give you the right mixture of knowledge and practical abilities.

  6. Just ask at a technical college or technology college. I trained at 4 different colleges in Brum to become an Electrical technician. Click this link and go to the open day:

The open day is Saturday, the 10th of November. I went there!

Look at this one too - http://www.sbirmc.ac.uk/

Yeah I went there too! lol

  7. you need qualifications for electrical work ...you can get college courses for plumbing at present depending on your age i.e over 25 it will cost about £4500 for a plumbing course which you can study from home for the theory and do the practical at a college centre...check out the internet...

  8. Yes, you do need a qualification to do plumbing & electrical courses - the qualifications that you will need to be a fully qualified plumber is a City & guilds 6129 & a NVQ2 (C&G 6089) qualification. Electrical you will need to gain the Level 2 & Level 3 (City & Guilds 2330) & the NVQ3 (C&G 2356). I would recommend OLCI Construction Training - 0800 3284163. They have a new centre in Birmingham & are fully accredited for all plumbing & electrical qualifications.
