I already have a mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, OS, and case.

Do I need anything else to build a basic computer used for internet, iTunes, windows vista, and microsoft office 2007?

And if you have any suggestions for changing any of the items please feel free to let me know.

And one last thing, are all of these products compatible?

I'm pretty sure they are but it never hurts to get a second opinion.

  1. you better of buying a dell or something all of those are way to cheap. get away from them all. and use tiger direct.

  2. Well, they're all compatible, but your computer will work like c**p.

First of all, you need to get a graphics card. This is pretty much mandatory for Vista. I suggest something from Nvidia around the FX6600 range (you could go lower.)

Next you need more ram. You need at least a gig of ram to even run Vista, 2 gigs to run it well.

Your processor would be fine if you want everything to run very slowly. I suggest getting a dual core at 2.2 ghz or higher. You should also go with AMD, since they're much cheaper, you don't pay for the name in this case.

That also means you should get an AMD motherboard, if you choose to do so.

I'm not exactly sure how much power all this would consume, but I suggest also getting a better power supply. Here (http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalcul... you can input your specs, and it will tell you how much they consume. I also suggest getting a bigger PSU than you need, since they degrade over time.

    Everything else is good.

The parts you initially picked out would be passable if you used XP, however, they won't realistically work under the high system requirements of Vista.

  3. I don't see a motherboard in your list.  I also don't see any kind of hard drive or CD/DVD drive.

Take a look at the Device Manager listing in your present computer, and see what you're lacking.

    Good luck!
