  1. If you get your local channels from the satellite provider, then no you don't.  But, many people can receive local HD channels by using an "off the air" antenna connected to their HDTV (with a digital tuner) or to the satellite receiver.  Many of the newest satellite receivers do not have an antenna input.  If you get an HDTV and don't get your local channels in HD through your satellite provided, you may want to think about getting one with a digital tuner.


  2. why would u need  a tuner u plug ur sky box into ur scart(AV) on back of tv and u dont need to tune nothing

  3. No, you don't need a built-in tuner. All they do is receive a broadcast from a source. That's what the receiver does for you in addition to decrypting the channels you pay for.
