Do I need chlorine in my pool?

I just bought an inflatible 4x18 pool. DO I need chlorine? How do I go about getting chemicals and how do I check levels?

do you plan on keeping the water in it?  or just filling it up whenever you want to use it?  if former, then YES, buy some liquid chlorine and some test strips.  you dip the strips into the water, and it should read between 2-5 ppm
