Do I need glasses? (I use the PC almost 24/7).

And I went to a forum and found reading there difficult. My eyes hurt. Could this be that I have been using the PC for over a day non stop?

Can I get a FREE eye test (Currently in full time education under 19).

Thanks guys to any help

  1. Nearly all opticians will give you a free eye test if you need glasses at the end and buy them off them, if you pass the eye test they generally charge you about £15. And no you arn't entitled to a free one because of your education status - that stops when you are 16 years old.

  2. I use the PC alot as-well, mostly for coursework and PC games. Yes you can get a free eye-test just go to you're local eye department and book it- If you're getting headacke's this is a big sign that you're eyes are very sensative or straining due to you're eye's getting sore.

I would think you're properly short sighted- and I think you should go to you're department and def. get a check- If you get refferd to get glasses, I would say get contacts like me- monthly one's, very usefull and dont get in the way!

    :) Goodluck

  3. If you use the PC more than 20 hours a day, then your main problem is lack of sleep.  Glasses will not correct this.  Sleeping will.

  4. You have eye strain.

It's recommended that you look away from your computer every 15 minutes for a little while, and try purposefully to blink often to stop your eyes drying up.

I wear a pair of anti glare glasses for the computer if I'm going to be on any length of time.

  5. It sounds as if you have eye strain. Having said that you may need glasses. The best thing you could do is to get an eye test, you will get it for free as you are under 19 and in full time education.

    Good luck.

  6. You have been staring at the screen to long.

  7. It is impossible to tell if you need glasses unless you have a full eye test done.  Yes you can get a free eye test because your under 19 and still in education, it only stops once your over 16 if your not in full time education.  So as long as you can provide the name of your college or sixth form you'll get it absolutely free!  If your under 16 you'll need to get a parent to sign for you.

If you do need glasses you get given a voucher towards glasses.  You can get some for free or you can put your voucher to more expensive frames.  Where i work you can get a pair of designer frames for £40, which is a saving of £85 if you didnt have the voucher.

good luck! and you might as well book a test since you get it free... if you leave it for too long you may be too old and have to pay!!!

  8. If you are on the pc too long you will have vision problems...eye strain.

You can do serious damage not taking a 10 min break from your pc per hour you spend on it.

  9. dont think you need glasses but for some people staring at a monitor all day can give you headaches etc.take a break from it.im online from when i wake up,but i wear glasses lol

  10. You should either try to stop using the PC so much or get an eye test, I think you can get a free eye test too !!! Hope I could help you !!! : ]

  11. The same thing happened to me. If you stay that long in front of the computer you need to get some glasses. Will help. But also try to take a short brake every 30min.

  12. take a break from the pc....don't go on it  for to long a periods of time...sometimes look away from the pc when it starts..or prehaps the moniter..

i'm sure you can get an eye test but i'm not sure theres any pc glasses---or lets face it we all would be on it litterally 24/7!! lol  ;)
