Do I need glasses??

I haven't cared too much about it lately but just now I have this massive headache and am looking around and stuff isn't super clear. I can rarely read the whiteboard and I tried on my friends glasses yesterday for a laugh and was amazed at how clear everything was. I dont want to go to the eye doctor and have them say I dont need them. Help?

I mentioned it to my parents once or twice and they didn't believe me since they both have 20/20 eyesight.

  1. You should definitely go to an optician.  If you do need glasses by them online at somewhere like http://www.youronlineoptician.com it will save you a bundle!!

  2. A doctor would undoubtedly prescribe something for you if it would help.  Take a chance.

  3. Definitely get your eyes checked and get glasses if needed.  It's kind of a pain, but when you realize that the headaches are gone and you can actually see things clearly, it's totally worth it.

  4. You really need them. Definitely. This is a common thing amongst us school students.

If you ignore it, you can risk making them worse faster as they need to work harder than they need to, straining them. You will end up with thick glasses eventually if you don't take action.

Your parents only ignore you is because they think this is only caused by genetics. That's not true. You can develop it yourself as an individual due to factors such as technology use and your health. You should tell them that and get them to ask the optometrist if they still don't believe you.

Sight is the most important sense and they shouldn't take money into account for this reason. You may damage it if they don't help you. Tell them the urgency of it. I mean, if you can't see at school, won't you fall behind? (this happened to me).

    Good luck!

  5. I think you need them.  If your parents don't believe you, talk to one of your teachers and have him/her write a note to your parents telling them that you've been having trouble seeing at school and that you should see an eye doctor.  They should believe a teacher, hopefully.

  6. Don't let your parents dismiss you just because they can see well.  Maybe their eyesight is just fine, but that doesn't mean that your eyes are.  There are recessive traits that they could've handed down to you, your eyesight could have been damaged from playing too many videogames, spending too much time on the computer, watching too much TV, trying to write in the dark, eating improperly, and ALL kinds of other factors.

My mother has almost perfect vision, and my father wears glasses, but his prescription is very weak compared to how bad my eyes are.  I can't even see six inches past my face.  Don't let your parents bullshit you.  Don't let them dismiss you just because their eyes aren't bad.  Your eyesight could become progressively worse.  I'm not trying to scare you, but it's a very possible thing.

You are not going to be turned down by the eyedoctor - if things are the least bit blurry, then you need glasses.  Otherwise reading-glasses would be a dead business.  If you're getting headaches, that definitely means you need glasses.  You're getting headaches because your eyes are straining to focus.  The eyestrain is probably worsening your vision, and the headaches will keep coming until you get your glasses.  I guarantee you that you will not be turned away, unless the man you go to is a total quack.

Getting a teacher to reccommend getting glasses to your parents is a very open option, as Starfish said.  That's how my parents found out that I couldn't see.

Depending on the specifics of your glasses, they can be very expensive, but do not let that turn you away. You are worth every penny.
