Do I need malaria tablets in India?

I'm going to backpack around india starting from Mumbai. Not sure where i'll be headed but random in the name of the game. do I need malaria tablets? If so, do they sell them in india? Thanks

Yes you'll need them Malaria is bad during monsoon season, you can get them cheap in India but make sure it's legit.

well mr.joseph  u make wrong decision  and u coming in wrong place because india is  not a heaven  it is a h**l  .india is dirtyast place in the world  . india is a house of dieases here in india every day 100 of people are die  by unknown diseases  here malaria is a simlple one . if u thinking here hospital is good so u thinking wrong here most of the hospital condition are just like our toilte room  no facalities are here even doctors are uneducated indian doctors are  5th class pass they don't known how to treat ill person they  kill them to give wrong medicene  so i give u good suggestion  don't come in this  h**l place .  or u are already in india its better to consult ur home country doctor  and don't consult indian doctors . or its ur own risk to come india

I first went to India in 2003 and spent 6 months there. After 2 weeks of anti malarial tablets I was feeling ill and stopped taking them and just used odomos now and then (a mosquito repellant). I have been back about 8 times since and have never taken anti malaria tablets.

Just be aware when mosquitos are present, buy mosquito coils for your room (about 15 rupees or 20 english pence for 10) or indeed an electrical anti mosquito repellent for about 50 rupees which will last for about 40 days, and use mosquito repellent.

Have fun India is a fantastic country. and in answer to your question yes they do sell them in India. And FYI don't take a massive medical kit like I did, there are lots of hospitals and chemists so you don't need to break your back carrying such things in your rucksack
