If I just opened a cosmetology business on one side of town and want to open another one across town do I need another license or can I use the same one? What do I have to provide to the State Board when opening this new business?

  1. That depends on type of business and what the regulations are..

Most cities have building permits and that means every building needs to pass inspection and be safe. So this would apply to every location

Some businesses require permits and licensing and you need to contact people who would have control there.  The rules for a restaurant would be different than for a craft shop.

The most complicated business I have every dealt with was food service....everyone I talked to told me something different and that business was regulated by city, county and state and they all told me different things.  Was really crazy, making everyone happy.

So people here cannot answer your questions without more information.

  2. If its in the same town, it would seem that one license is sufficient.  Of course if you contact the city business license dept, they'll probably tell you you need another license because they want to double their money.

I don't know how big your town is, but I suggest you stop in some stores that have more than 2 locations, like McDonalds or Traget.  Look at the business license on public display.  Check and see if they are identical with the same numbers at the different locations
