Question:

Do I need my MBA for Marketing?

People have said yes, I need it, others have said no- you can be fine without one. I have struggled very hard throughout college and high school to complete math requirements, and after looking at the GMAT quant section, I just can't do it anymore. I will be completeing my BS in Marketing, and I do want to be successful. What are some tips/advice for someone who would eventually like to be a director of marketing or ad who doesnt have an MBA?

  1. You need 2-5 years of experience before applying for an MBA anyway, so you should get the best marketing job you can and go from there.  The value of the MBA (and the value you provide to your classmates) dramatically increases when you have good work experience under your belt.  So don't worry about it for now.  There are entry-level positions in marketing and advertising--however in the current economic climate you will have a much harder time finding a job in the field.  You can take what you can get, and then move when the economy improves.
