I bought a Maverick By Mossberg Model 88 Field shotgun and i had read that you should put special sights on it. Is this necessary and and if so is there removeable ones available so that i can hunt dove too?

  1. If I was assaulted by harsh regulations and had to use a slug gun on deer, I would mount a non-magnifying red dot sight on it! Regards, Larry.

  2. If you have a 18.5" barrel you can get a gunsmith to install a set of ghost rings on the barrel. Great for shooting slugs, but can be costly

  3. You dont HAVE to have iron sights or a scope to shoot slugs, you can do it with the plain old bead sight on your shotty, but it is easier for sure if you have proper sights. I dont know about sights that can be removed, but you can pick up smoothbore slug barrels that have really nice iron sights on them for pretty cheap.

  4. rifle sights are for slug guns.Yes, there are removable sights.
